When I just sat down to write this blog post at the local coffee-house I got myself a cup of coffee for $2.50 and a small muffin for $2.85. I am not trying to be some sort of curmudgeon and complain and rant, but, over two dollars for a cup of coffee seems a bit excessive. I am not at a Starbucks or anything like that with what I call “fashion coffees” I am merely at a local independent coffee shop.

I don’t consider myself an economist or mathematician of any sort, I am probably the farthest thing from those sorts of expertise. All I know is to do almost anything these days takes dollars, and not just a couple of dollars, a real amount of dollars. Want to go on a date? It will probably cost you roughly $100 for the evening on average. Want to go to the movies? At the very minimum it will cost you something like $10. Want to take a leisurely drive? Add about $10 for gas.

I just feel we have accepted this as the norm for so long that we really don’t stop and question it too much. I once wrote an article on how I feel we will go so far forward that we will wind up going backwards. In this example I am suggesting that the cost of events and everyday outings might get so costly that people will have to return to the basics – listening to radio (not satellite) watching TV (not cable) taking walks, talking to one another (face to face) and enjoying the simpler side of life. This is no way a bad thing, in fact it is probably a good thing. It would be nice though if we could make things affordable for everyone and not only people who are wealthy or well off.

Here’s a thought – let’s get going on that time machine dream. Because if we can go back in time say only about sixty years with even $5 in our pocket we could have one heck of a time.

First off Jessica Simpson is not that big. I mean maybe she has put on a few pounds since she was a stick figure but now she looks just fine. Secondly, the people that produced this commercial can only wish that Jessica Simpson would say two words to them…I can only imagine the two words she would choose to say.

But it wasn’t just work at ‘SNL.’ Morgan goes into erotic detail describing an unofficial road trip to an illegal strip club called the Loft.

“I invited everyone to go down there one week,” explains Morgan. “And Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch and a few others came along. I didn’t tell any of them what they were in for, so it was all cool when we got there. … Then these two girls came out onstage and started [engaging in sex acts], and that just shut it down. All the grips and crew guys from ‘SNL’ were standing around and loving it, but my castmates took one look at that, turned right around and rushed out of there.”

Morgan felt misunderstood by the ‘SNL’ cast. “I had my finger on the pulse of urban comedy, but when I brought my act to ‘SNL,’ those mother——— just felt bad for me,” confides Morgan. But he does have praise for his ’30 Rock’ co-star, Tina Fey. “Tina wasn’t scared to come into my world and find the funny up in there. She’s that kind of cool,” he writes.

Morgan also delves into the deeply personal. Coping with diabetes, being estranged from his mother and losing his father to AIDS.

Tracy Morgan, 40, was discovered performing stand-up comedy at Harlem’s Apollo Theater and was a member of ‘SNL’ from 1996 to 2003. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on ’30 Rock’ in 2009.

Variety reports that Pine is in serious negotiations to step into the role of CIA analyst Jack Ryan, in a reboot of the franchise based on Tom Clancy’s series of political-thriller novels. While talks have only recently begun, Paramount expects Pine to officially join the project as it comes to fruition. “The studio and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini, based on an original concept.”

In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job.

I Love Will Forte and Kristen Wiig. It is for those reasons along I would see this. Otherwise, it seems like another throw-away movie to build off the success of the SNL name. Eh, why not?

While Raimi “loves” the story of the Lizard, the Spider-Man team isn’t exactly looking to tie up those little mentions of Dr. Curt Connors.

Instead, look for a baddie who will toy with Peter’s internal and external demons a little bit: “What we’re trying to do right now is really understand the journey Peter is going to go on this time and have the villain maybe be a counter to that growth, something that he has to overcome. Or maybe he has to grow in a way to overcome the villain, because there always seem to be stories of coming of age, of a young man growing up and learning things about life, so once we are identifying the exact movement that Peter has to grow to, I think the villain-and we’re trying this right now; we’re trying to choose a villain based on who would be the proper counter to that growth, so we really have dramatic conflict.”

Spiderman is not one of my faves, although I do enjoy the franchise. Now, if you throw Batman into the mix I am there. The thing I like about Spiderman, as well as most superhero movies, are the villains. It will be cool to see who Raimi does use as the villain and moreover who he casts to play it.

“Unfortunately, there won’t be many of the actors going back,” he said, “unless they’re going to put masks on and be disguised as dwarves! Andy Serkis is, at the moment, I think, the only other actor who’s doing this film.”

The one they call Gandalf also talked about the possibility of a Magneto script in the same vein as the Wolverine beginnings movie that came out this past summer:

“There’s meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I’ve not read it, so I suspect it wouldn’t involve me,” he said. “I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that. They can’t have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!”
